Vintage Market @ Hotel Le Berger, Brussels, Sunday 23.09.2012

On the occasion of Design September, an annual meeting of people, projects & events about design, the Second Life Festival, organised a special Vintage Market day, in Hotel Le Berger of Brussels. What a unique opportunity to visit this recently renovated mythical space and get a glimpse of its elegant, mysterious and sexy past blending into the present! Plus browse through a bunch of pretty vintage and retro looking things; the smell and the colours brought back the child in me…

A maximum number of elements from the original decor were kept; The rest was artfully chosen to keep the myth alive. All photos by Konstantinos Implikian.

All doors have ladies’ names; Camille, Manon, Jeanne…

Narrow staircase… Actually there are two, so as ”not to see nor be seen”, dating back to its previous life as a ‘rendez-vous’ hotel…

Elements of the original 1930’s decor…

Rooms invaded by Vintage Market merchandise…

Seriously retro…

Open bathrooms, art deco and mirrors…

Cute room filled with cute stuff…

A roomful of vintage…

…a bathtub full of vintage…

and a shower full of vintage…

… plus a sexy installation…

… made by this couple from Flanders who specialise in vintage wall paper! Check out their website: www.funkywalls.be

… although the hotel chose another supplier for their brilliantly decorated walls…

The obligatory art deco elements, downstairs at the restaurant…

… and the last one, cause I couldn’t resist its ugliness!
